Question: How do I import wine data from the wine library?
Answer:

1. Go to the Wine Library section, click the red drop down button for the Wine Library drop down menu and type the first letter of the winery you wish to import.

2. From the list select the winery name, varietal combo for your wine and click the "Import" button.


3. The Winery Name, Classification, Varietal, Country, Region, Appellation, Winery Web Site, Serving Glass, Serving Temperature and Food Pairing data available for that wine will be automatically imported.

Question: How do I print a report?

Answer:
Select the "Report" tab next to the Wine Detail tab.
Once in the "Report" layout choose a report to run by selecting it's "Run Report" button. Choose the option for the report that best fits your needs.

The report options will appear. Choose the options for that report.

The report will appear.

To edit your page set up go to the "File" menu located at the top left of your screen and choose "Page Setup" from the drop down. From there choose from the options your printer allows you. If not already the default, choose 8.5X11 for the page size and set the orientation to vertical.

Then choose from the same "File" menu and select the "Print" option

.NOTE: If you are printing a list of multiple items but only one is printing, you will need to look for an option while in the "Print" dialog that allows you to choose from either "Records Being Browsed" or "Current Record". Choose "Records Being Browsed".

Question: What is the best way to show when a wine has been consumed?

Answer: The best way to designate that a bottle is no longer in your collection is to indicate that the Quantity is '0". Deleting the record will eliminate any tasting notes and such that you may want to refer to later. Only delete a wine record if you absolutely never want to buy that wine again.

Question: Can I add more than one vendor and/or different prices for a wine.

Answer:
To do this create separate records for the differences in venders and cost. Example. Create two records for Wine A, each will be the same wine just documenting the difference in vendor and cost.

Question: How do I do a custom sort?

Answer:
To do a custom sort by any field, choose the "Records" drop down from top menu bar and select "Sort". An interface will appear that allows you to choose the fields and setting to sort by. Make your selecting and select the "Sort" button.

Question: How do I import from a previous version of My Wine Collection?

Answer:If you are upgrading from My Wine Collection 1.0 or are moving the software to a new computer then you are going to want to import your wine list from the previous version or other computer.

There are two ways you can import your wine data.

Option 1: Import at First Launch of My Wine Collection 2.0

Option 2: Using the Import Tool

Question: How do I import an Excel file to this software?

Answer: To Import data from an Excel file...

1. Save a copy of your Excel file as "Text (Tab Delimited)" format.
2. Launch My Wine Collection 2.0 and choose the File/ Import option.
3. Use the field mapping feature to map your data to the available fields.
4. Leave the default setting of "Add New Record" in the "Import Action" section as is.
5. Click the Import Button.
6. An "Import Options" Dialog Box will appear. Leave all options unchecked and Click OK.

Your data will be imported.

Question: How many wine records will the software hold?

Answer: This depends on if you will include images or not and how you choose to include the images. If you do not include images you should be able to hold millions of wine records. If you include images at a low resolution (72dpi) then you should be able to hold 10 to 20 thousand wine records. If you include images but choose to save only a reference to the image (it is an option when importing images) you will be able to hold again millions of records.


Question: How do I reinstall the My Wine Collection software without loosing all my wine records?

Answer: You may reinstall the My Wine Collection software while preserving your current wine list by performing the following.

1: Save a copy of your data.
a. First launch the current My Wine Collection application on your computer. Once it is up and running click the "Show All" button to make sure that all of your wine records are visible in your wine list.
b. Go to File/Save a copy as/ Compressed Copy and save a copy of this file on your Desktop or Documents folder. Saving as default is fine "MyWine Copy . MWC".
c. Close MWC.

2: Uninstall current software.
a. Go to Start/Programs/My Wine Collection/ Uninstall My Wine Collection
3rd: Reinstall Software
a. Insert CD and reinstall My Wine Collection.

3: Import your wine records.
a. Launch the newly installed My Wine Collection
b. Go to File/ Import Records/ and find the file "MyWine Copy . MWC" you just saved to your Desktop or Documents folder.
c. Once in the "Field Mapping" interface...
1. Set the "View By" option to "Matching Names" in the upper right corner.
2. Set the "Import Action" option to "Add New Records".

4. Click the Import Button.
d. An "Import Options" Dialog Box will appear. Leave all options unchecked and Click OK.
e. Your wine records will be imported.
