Here we have a very nicely designed product. No blinking lights, no funny icons or graphics, but clean and straightforward labels and easy to understand buttons. The help menu has lots of information and takes you through functions step-by-step. I haven’t seen that very often. The software is easy to use and I did not have to refer to the help menu, but only to review the print options.

Adding a new wine is easy and allows tracking all the important information associated with a good bottle of wine. Much of the information is available via pull-down menus, but things that are not listed can be simply typed into the appropriate input field. A note on the pull-down menu, the scroll bar on the menu does not scroll the text as the bar is pulled up or down. So, you have to kind of guess where to stop scrolling and then the appropriate text appears depending on where you stopped. Would have been nice if the text scolls while pulling the bar up or down.

A food pairing section allows ticking off boxes and drinking temperatures. Nothing fancy, but it does exactly what is intended.

There is lots of room to add tasting notes, when and where a wine was consumed, with sight, smell, taste and space for an overall impression.

There are tons of options to sort and find specific wines, different ways to view your inventory, with one that I really like. There is actually a zoom option to enlarge the window, which makes it great to read from 2 miles away… well Ok, I am exaggerating, but it does make the text much easier to read. 

There are several print format options. One that I liked a lot is the Wine Detail report. It nicely formats one page for each wine and lists all pertinent wine information. It even includes the picture of the label if you imported it.

The cellar summary report is easy to read and can be sorted by various criteria. One thing that I did not like is that in some instances text is wrapped and may do so in the middle of a word. For example “Kendall-Jackson” appears as “Kendall-Jackso” with the “n” appearing on the next line. Word wrapping occurs frequently since many varietal and winery names can be quite long. This could make the report look a little awkward. Setting print to “Landscape” does not help. I would have preferred the report to be in landscape and take advantage of the page real estate.

My overall impression of this product is very good. For $49 this is a very good investment if your are in the market for wine bottle cellar inventory software. One of a few products that has a backup feature to save your data.

"My Wine Collection 2.0 is the software I have been searching for. It is complete and complex, yet simple enough for a non-techie to use easily. With it I have the software of my dreams for storing all of the information about my wine cellar. Inputting data is fast, intuitive, and user friendly. And running reports could not be easier. I have full flexibility to choose what information I want displayed. Do I want a list of my wines by winery, for a wine tasting trip? Or do I want to see all of the wines in my cellar that are ready to drink? Or just the Pinot Noirs? Do I want to know how many Zinfandels are in the cellar? Do I want a complete wine cellar list by varietal? Whatever I want is there with just a few simple clicks.

There is space provided to link my wines with the winery's web site, or to note food and wine pairings. There is a place to note the ratings given to the wines either by me or by the "pros". In other words, you have thought of absolutely everything.

So I thank you for making what used to be a tedious task into a
delightful one.
